Grey Market Watch

Grey Market Watch is GLP1Place’s ongoing investigation into the side of the peptide world nobody selling you a vial wants to talk about: the counterfeit labels, the customs seizures, the federal indictments, and the quiet exits of vendors who took a lot of money with them on the way out. This Grey Market Watch hub is updated as new enforcement actions, court filings, and verified community reports come in.

Grey Market Watch: FDA peptide warning letters and research-use-only compliance documents

We do not name vendors who are currently operating unless a federal agency, court, or regulator has already put their name on the public record. What you will find here instead is the pattern: how the scams work, how the supply chain from unregulated overseas labs actually reaches a doorstep in Ohio, what it looks like when the FDA and DOJ decide to stop writing warning letters and start filing charges, and how to read a Certificate of Analysis like someone who has seen a fake one before.

For primary-source context, see the FDA warning-letter record, FDA drug alerts, U.S. Customs and Border Protection newsroom, and U.S. Department of Justice news.

Why We’re Doing This

The peptide research space runs almost entirely on trust. There is no FDA-approved label to check, no pharmacy verification number, no insurance claim that gets rejected if the product isn’t what it says it is. A buyer’s only real protections are a vendor’s word, a Certificate of Analysis that may or may not be real, and whatever the internet has said about that vendor before. That’s a thin margin of safety in a market the FDA itself has said may be flooded with product that is mislabeled, underdosed, contaminated, or in some documented cases, an entirely different and controlled substance wearing a peptide’s name.

Federal enforcement caught up to that reality in 2025 and 2026. Warehouses have been raided. Warning letters have escalated into felony convictions. U.S. Customs and Border Protection has intercepted thousands of individual shipments smuggled from China in a single operation. Members of Congress have sent formal letters to Chinese biotech manufacturers demanding answers about what’s actually in the vials they’re exporting. None of that made the case for buying research peptides any safer by itself — but it did generate a public record, and that record is what this section is built on.

What You’ll Find In This Section

Enforcement & Scam Case Studies

Federal prosecutions, FDA warning letters, and court records involving companies that have already been named by the government — what they did, how they got caught, and what it cost their customers.

China Supply Chain & Customs

Reporting on the manufacturing and import side of the grey market: customs seizures, congressional oversight letters to Chinese biotech firms, and what’s actually known about where unregulated peptide API comes from.

Scam Patterns & Community Reports

Fake COAs, diluted vials, non-delivery, and disappearing customer service — the recurring patterns researchers report across forums, review sites, and community threads, broken down so you can recognize them before you order.

Quality, Testing & Contamination

Endotoxin testing, LAL and rFC assays, mismatched vials and labeling failures, and how to actually evaluate whether a Certificate of Analysis is telling you the truth.

A Few Ground Rules We Hold Ourselves To

  • We name companies only when a federal agency, court record, or official press release has already named them publicly — typically because they’ve been shut down, indicted, or sanctioned.
  • We do not name currently operating vendors, positively or negatively, in this section. See our Vendor Guide for how to evaluate any vendor yourself.
  • Community reports (forums, review sites, social threads) are treated as anecdotal signals, not verified fact, and are labeled as such.
  • Nothing here is legal, medical, or purchasing advice. Research peptides referenced in this section are not approved for human use, and nothing on this site should be read as encouraging otherwise.
