Catalog Description

TB-500 refers to research material related to thymosin beta-4 (Tbeta4), a naturally occurring actin-sequestering peptide. In a rat full-thickness wound model (Malinda et al.), topical or intraperitoneal Tbeta4 increased reepithelialization by 42% over controls at 4 days and up to 61% at 7 days, with greater wound contraction, increased collagen deposition, and angiogenesis versus controls. Mechanistically, Tbeta4 binds and sequesters G-actin, promoting migration of endothelial cells, keratinocytes, and progenitor cells to injury sites; the LKKTET sequence within the peptide contributes to its angiogenic activity via VEGF pathway involvement. Evidence base is predominantly preclinical (rodent, cell culture).

Research Profile

Half-Life
In horses after 10 mg SC, plasma peaked at 60-120 minutes and became unquantifiable at 6-10 hours; this is not a human half-life
Onset
Rodent models show measurable wound-healing effects within 4-7 days
Administration Routes (Research)
Topical in non-acetylated mouse-fragment researchSC in horsesIP in ratsNo validated human route

Research Notes

FDA identifies TB-500 as Ac-LKKTETQ, the acetylated 17-23 fragment of full-length thymosin beta-4, and explicitly states that they are not the same substance. No human administration study was found. This row therefore lists the actual animal and in-vitro test protocols while blocking transfer of full-length Tbeta4 clinical claims.

Supplementary research context only. Not medical advice or a treatment recommendation.
