Researched for: SHLP-2 evidence and protocol review
Also known as: Small Humanin-like peptide 2
SHLP2 (Small Humanin-Like Peptide 2) is a mitochondria-derived peptide that binds and activates chemokine receptor CXCR7. In mouse studies, SHLP2 administration protected male mice from high-fat-diet-induced obesity and improved insulin sensitivity; mechanistically, SHLP2 activates pro-opiomelanocortin (POMC) neurons in the hypothalamic arcuate nucleus, suppressing food intake and promoting thermogenesis. Like Humanin, it also shows chaperone-like activity blocking IAPP amyloid seeding, and has been studied for protective effects in a macular-degeneration model.

Best-effort summary of forum/Reddit discussion. This is anecdotal community commentary, not a scientific source, and does not count toward this record's verification status. Do not treat it as established fact or medical guidance.
No Reddit threads specifically discussing SHLP-2 were found. The closest related community discussion covers Humanin, another mitochondrial-derived peptide from the same gene family as the SHLP (small humanin-like peptide) series, as an informational/summary post rather than a first-hand usage report.
Community write-up on Humanin, a related mitochondrial-derived peptide from the same MT-RNR2 gene family as SHLP-2; informational/summary post, does not specifically address SHLP-2.
