Catalog Description

PT-141 (bremelanotide) is a cyclic heptapeptide melanocortin-4-receptor (MC4R) agonist, FDA-approved (June 21, 2019) as Vyleesi for acquired, generalized hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD) in premenopausal women. Approval was based on two identical Phase 3 RECONNECT trials (Studies 301/302, 1,247 women total): participants self-administered 1.75mg bremelanotide or placebo subcutaneously at least 45 minutes before anticipated sexual activity over a 24-week randomized double-blind treatment period, with both trials showing significantly improved sexual desire and reduced related distress versus placebo and a favorable safety profile. It is one of the few compounds in this catalog with full FDA approval, and acts centrally via MC3R/MC4R, distinguishing it from peripherally acting PDE5 inhibitors.
