Also known as: interleukin-27, IL-27, IL27, IL-27 p28/EBI3 complex
Human interleukin-27 is a member of the IL-6/IL-12 cytokine superfamily. The complex consists of IL-27 subunit alpha (p28, also called IL-30) and interleukin-27 subunit beta (EBI3). IL-27 signals through a receptor complex containing IL-27Rα/WSX-1 and gp130 and can activate JAK-STAT-associated signaling. Reported biological activities include regulation of T-helper-cell development, modulation of T-cell proliferation, induction of cytotoxic T-cell activity, effects on B-cell isotype switching, and regulation of inflammatory and innate immune responses.

Reflects preclinical/research literature context only. Not a medical claim, dosing instruction, or treatment recommendation.
No universal common reference sizes, standardized storage conditions, pharmacokinetic half-life, onset time, or administration route apply to IL-27 as a research cytokine. Recombinant-material properties depend on species, expression system, subunit composition, purification, carrier or buffer, and formulation. Evidence-backed experimental regimens should be recorded for a specific recombinant preparation and study rather than generalized to IL-27 as a single standardized product.
Supplementary research context only. Not medical advice or a treatment recommendation.

IL-27 is a protein cytokine complex rather than a small-molecule compound. The p28 and EBI3 subunits associate non-covalently and are not disulfide-linked. IL-27 should be distinguished from IL-30, which refers to the p28 subunit alone, and from EBI3-containing IL-35.
