Catalog Description

Glutathione is a tripeptide (glutamate-cysteine-glycine) and the principal intracellular antioxidant, neutralizing reactive oxygen species and supporting phase II liver detoxification. Oral glutathione has limited bioavailability due to GI degradation, which has motivated research into IV administration, liposomal formulations, and precursor supplementation (N-acetylcysteine) to raise intracellular glutathione levels.

Catalog descriptions reflect research context only. Not a medical claim or treatment recommendation.

Research Profile

Half-Life
Route and formulation dependent; injected glutathione undergoes rapid metabolism and no single catalog-wide value is valid
Onset
Body-store changes in oral studies were assessed over weeks to months
Administration Routes (Research)
OralCompounded IV use with significant quality concerns

Reported Research Effects

Reported Research Side Effects

Data source: Randomized oral studies and FDA compounding safety review

Reflects preclinical/research literature context only. Not a medical claim, dosing instruction, or treatment recommendation.

Research Protocols Reported in the Literature

Research Interactions

Flagged Avoid / Caution Combinations (Research)

Reflects patterns reported in research/community literature only. Not a safety guarantee, medical advice, or interaction warning for human use.

Research Notes

Oral bioavailability depends on formulation and study duration. FDA documented excessive endotoxin and serious acute reactions when dietary-grade glutathione was used in sterile compounded injections.

Supplementary research context only. Not medical advice or a treatment recommendation.
