Catalog Description

GB-115 is a synthetic dipeptide (the amide of N-phenylhexanoyl-glycyl-L-tryptophan), designed as a retro-analog of cholecystokinin tetrapeptide (CCK-4). It acts as an antagonist at CCK-1 receptors, blocking cholecystokinin's anxiogenic signaling - a mechanism distinct from GABAergic sedatives such as benzodiazepines. Preclinical work in rhesus monkeys found subchronic GB-115 administration reduced emotional stress reactions and restored adaptive behavior under isolation conditions, comparable to the benzodiazepine phenazepam. A published human clinical study in patients with generalized anxiety disorder identified an effective dose of 6 mg/day, with a reportedly fast-onset anxiolytic effect, favorable effects on attention, reaction time, and sleep disturbances, and - unlike first-line SSRIs/SNRIs - no initial overactivation or anxiety worsening at treatment onset. GB-115 has reportedly completed Phase 3 trials for anxiety/adjustment disorders in Russia but is not approved outside Russia and is not FDA-approved.
