Storage
Store refrigerated at 2–8 °C in the original carton to protect from light. Do not freeze or shake. The labeled prefilled pen, autoinjector, or syringe may be stored at 20–25 °C in the original carton for up to 30 days; product stored at room temperature for more than 30 days is to be discarded.

Best-Effort Research Profile

Evolocumab is a fully human immunoglobulin G2-lambda monoclonal antibody directed against human proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9). By binding PCSK9, it prevents PCSK9 from promoting hepatic LDL-receptor degradation, increasing LDL-receptor availability and enhancing clearance of circulating LDL cholesterol. Evolocumab is a lipid-modifying biologic administered as a sterile solution by the subcutaneous route.

Source review pending. This descriptive profile is shown from the available source material as a best-effort educational reference. It has not passed the full verification bar and is not a dosing instruction, medical claim, or treatment recommendation.

Research Profile

Half-Life
Estimated effective half-life: 11–17 days.
Onset
Maximum suppression of circulating unbound PCSK9 occurred within 4 hours after a single subcutaneous administration. Maximum LDL-cholesterol reduction occurred by approximately 2 weeks after a 140 mg dose and 3 weeks after a 420 mg dose in the FDA-labeled pharmacology description.
Administration Routes (Research)
subcutaneous

Reported Research Effects

Reflects preclinical/research literature context only. Not a medical claim, dosing instruction, or treatment recommendation.

Research Notes

Reference clinical regimens described in the FDA label include 140 mg subcutaneously every 2 weeks or 420 mg subcutaneously once monthly for adults with hypercholesterolemia or increased cardiovascular risk and for adults and pediatric patients aged 10 years and older with heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia. For homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia, the labeled initial regimen is 420 mg subcutaneously once monthly, with an increase to 420 mg every 2 weeks under specified clinical circumstances. These are regulatory and study-reference regimens, not individualized treatment instructions.

Supplementary research context only. Not medical advice or a treatment recommendation.
