Catalog Description

Apelin-13 is a short endogenous agonist of the apelin receptor (APLNR/APJ). The pyroglutamyl form, [Pyr1]apelin-13, is the predominant stable cardiovascular isoform in humans and should not be treated as interchangeable with every vendor-labeled apelin-13 salt. Human studies have used controlled intravenous or intrabrachial infusion to study vascular responses and metabolism. No approved therapeutic indication or validated subcutaneous protocol exists.

Catalog descriptions reflect research context only. Not a medical claim or treatment recommendation.

Research Profile

Half-Life
Human terminal half-life is not established; [Pyr1]apelin-13 was cleaved at both termini during human infusion, and rat-plasma stability was about 24 minutes
Onset
Vascular responses were measured during controlled infusion; no validated therapeutic onset exists
Administration Routes (Research)
Intravenous (IV)Laboratory / preclinical

Reported Research Effects

Reported Research Side Effects

Data source: Primary human infusion studies plus current scientific-supplier catalogs

Reflects preclinical/research literature context only. Not a medical claim, dosing instruction, or treatment recommendation.

Route-Specific Research Protocols

Amounts and schedules are separated by administration route. Evidence badges distinguish labels, human studies, preclinical work, community reports, and evidence gaps.

Route safety: Research-study protocol only; it is not an approved or individualized instruction and should not be extrapolated to another route.

Laboratory / preclinical Preclinical only

No route-specific amount established in the reviewed record.

Technique
Laboratory model-dependent
Evidence
Route noted; protocol not established

Context: The catalog identifies this route, but its reviewed sources do not establish a separate amount and schedule for it.

Route safety: Non-human or laboratory exposure. It cannot be converted into a human dose.

Do not convert an amount between routes. Bioavailability, formulation, sterility, monitoring, and clinical context differ by route. Research-use context only; independently verify every cited source.

Research Interactions

Flagged Avoid / Caution Combinations (Research)

Reflects patterns reported in research/community literature only. Not a safety guarantee, medical advice, or interaction warning for human use.

Research Notes

Differentiate native apelin-13 from [Pyr1]apelin-13. Current scientific suppliers commonly list 0.5 mg, 1 mg, and 5 mg packs. No published evidence supports the prior generic SC route.

Supplementary research context only. Not medical advice or a treatment recommendation.
