Best-Effort Research Profile

Andarine is a synthetic arylpropionamide androgen-receptor ligand and nonsteroidal SARM. In animal studies, S-4 showed tissue-selective anabolic activity, with effects in skeletal muscle and bone and comparatively lower activity in prostate tissue than conventional androgens. It has not been approved as a therapeutic drug by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

Source review pending. This descriptive profile is shown from the available source material as a best-effort educational reference. It has not passed the full verification bar and is not a dosing instruction, medical claim, or treatment recommendation.

Research Profile

Half-Life
Approximately 200 minutes in a dog pharmacokinetic study; approximately 4 hours was reported for rats and dogs in a review of preclinical data. No reliably established human half-life was identified.
Administration Routes (Research)
oralintravenoussubcutaneous

Research Notes

Preclinical pharmacology studies administered S-4 subcutaneously to castrated rats and evaluated androgenic activity through prostate and seminal-vesicle weights and anabolic activity through levator ani muscle weight. A later rat study used 3 or 10 mg/kg for 8 weeks and assessed muscle strength, lean body mass, bone mineral density, pituitary hormones, and reproductive-organ weights. Pharmacokinetic work in rats and dogs evaluated oral and intravenous administration; in dogs, oral bioavailability was reported as approximately 91% at pharmacologically relevant doses, with mean clearance of 4.6 mL/min/kg and a mean half-life of approximately 200 minutes. These are animal-study parameters, not validated human regimens. FDA materials list andarine among SARMs addressed by its safety communications and identify SARMs as unapproved drugs; WADA materials identify andarine as a prohibited SARM in sport.
